UP Hathras Stampede Incident

This incident occurred in Uttar Pradesh (UP) Hathras district on Tuesday afternoon. From the officials, we came to know that Local Guru, Bhole Baba was addressing his followers in the Rati Bhanpur village within the Sikandra Rau area of Hathras district. Suraj Pal, also known as ‘Narayan Sakar Hari’ or ‘Bhole Baba’, is a spiritual speaker from Bahadur Nagar the town in the Patiyali tehsil of Kasganj district, Uttar Pradesh.

According to the officials, the stampede occurred due to suffocation at the venue led to discomfort among the people attending the ‘Satsang’. That’s why, the people started running, causing a stampede.

Dr. Umesh Kumar Tripathi, the Chief Medical Officer in Etah, reported that they have received 27 bodies, including 25 females and 2 males. The total number of people who were there went up to 116. Some injured individuals were also taken to hospitals. According to Senior Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar, three children were among those whose bodies were brought to the district. It is believed that a stampede occurred during a religious gathering known as a ‘satsang.’

Meanwhile, investigators are looking into the exact reason for the incident.

One survivor described the terrifying experience, explaining that the stampede occurred as the religious event was ending and people were hurrying to leave. “There was a large crowd of followers gathered there. There was no clear path to exit, and everyone started falling on top of each other, causing a stampede,” said a victim who was taken to a nearby hospital. “When I tried to get out, motorcycles parked outside blocked my way. Many people fainted, and others lost their lives.”

Uttar Pradesh’s Cm Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced that Rs. 2 Lakhs would be given to the family who is deceased in the incident and Rs. 50000 to the injured.
